  • Another great loss.

    image001.jpg

When I first gotten the news of Heath Ledger's death from the news, I stood there for a good 3 seconds trying to process what the new caster had said. I just couldn't.

I was in shock; I still am in shock that he is dead.

It is such a sad news to hear as I am a big fan of his work, from the moment I watched him in 10 Things I Hate About You, to A Knight's Tale to Brokeback Mountain, and soon in the most anticipated movie of 08, Batman - Dark Knight where he played Joker. Many reviews have been made about his performance, and movie critics were predicting that he would probably be receiving a nomination for his very believable portrayal of Joker. Not a suprise as seriously, I don't even remember who will be Batman this time, but I could remember him as the famed villain.

Once I received news, I began texting Lipas and J sharing with them my grieve. Both too, like many of us who have heard his news by now are sadden by this loss. The way he departed this world was a typical Hollywood death - accidental overdosage or a possible suicide, which of course the latter is quickly dismissed by his family.

His life and sad ending reminds me of the deaths of many young and brilliant actors in Hollywood - River Phoenix, James Dean, which J pointed out to me in Sms. It's so true; names like Marilyn Monroe, Anna Nicole, the famed factory girl, Andy Warhol's superstar Edie Sedgwick, though not all as young as Heath's 28 years of life, but lives all still ended in tragedy.

Maybe this is a price to pay for fame? That the perfect and glamorous lives of celebrities are not as perfect as we see it. That a pact has been made between them and the green light of stardom, is a life of chaos in return for riches and star power.

Heath's death has not been classified yet, although a possible overdose would be the best cause. I might think in my own analysis, that depression caused by his own life's dramas - failed relationship with Michelle, pressures of new movie roles etc etc. I do think that because of his brilliantness and the intense seriousness in portraying his roles, that it may also have caused his depression. It's a common problem with serious actors who just could not separate their real lives from the characters they play, and maybe just maybe, that Heath was drawn into the dark character that still haunts him to his death. Angelina Jolie too had that problem when she played the character of a pyschotic patient in 'Girl Interrupted', which caused her broke down.

Anyhow, Heath will be missed dearly, and the whole world mourns for another great life loss.

like you, i was speechless for a couple of seconds after hearing about his death in the news. I too am a big fan of him. Another movie that he has acted in was Casanova. He held the role as Casanova brilliantly - the cheekiness, the playfulness in that character. As a memory of him, maybe you can try grab this show (if you havent watch it)...Heath, you will be deeply missed...
